GST is going to be a reality very soon. Government has already bow down to the demand of opposition and states and final draft has been rotated.Every taxpayer under GST will face two major tasks, first is of migration and second is of payment of taxes and filing of returns. To felicitate this GSTN is developed and will be operation very soon. Here are main facts you need to know about GSTN.
- It will be a one stop solution for all needs of a tax payer like registration, filing of returns etc.
- New users will be able to get registration using their PAN and Mobile number. GSTIN will be generated as an common identification of a GST payer like PAN for Income tax.
- For existing Taxpayers data have been migrated from VAT/service tax to the new portal and incomplete data is corrected by asking more information.
- It will be user friendly so that taxpayer can file their own returns using the portal.
- Some other websites like cleartax, Tally and SAP are also coordinating to make the filing more easy using their software and technologies.
- It’s testing will start soon and after testing and modification it will be available before the roll out of GST from 1st April 2017.
- For small users there will be an app to help them in generating invoice and file their compliance easily.
- All users will be given GST identification number which will be a 15 digit code made by their state code plus their 10 digit PAN.
- Under GST 3-5% cases will be selected for scrutiny based on the criteria set by the department.
- India’s second largest IT company Infosys has been selected to develop the entire IT structure for GST.
- Department will appoint GST consultants who will collect returns from their area for fees.
