Profession or passion, What to select?

Have you selected the wrong profession?

Do you feel that you are stuck in your professional life and you want to switch to your hobby as a profession? Many coaches will tell you to listen to your heart and do what you like. Here my question is do you actually like it? Or you find it soothing because it is not a part of your daily work stress. Especially in the lockdown period. The day you decide to make it your profession, maybe it will also start increasing your stress, and one day you will end up hating your own passion. Before jumping into it….answer the following questions?

– Are you stressed at work?

– Have you achieved any level at your hobby or just a starter and seen the other doing wonders in it.

– Do you have a fanship for someone performing great at your hobby?

– Are you obsessed with the name, fame, and earning of some celebrity.

As a youngster we find starting years very hard. Less salary, less respect. The responsibilities of small tasks. We find it quite unimportant. We find it hard to see the importance of what we do. Believe me it is starting a phase. Whatever you do is important for your growth and learning. No matter how small it is. It needs strength to hold on when you get scolded for minor mistakes. It takes courage to handle the consequences of your own blunders.

Mental preparedness:

Now, Maybe you find it hard to believe but sometimes we just want to run away from stress. In the initial phase of life, we are working as a junior. We feel every day that we don’t know anything. Most of us don’t enjoy it. We decide to quit that life. Its a bold decision but are you ready for?

– surviving at a lesser pay or no pay. if you have just started at your hobby it may take years to settle as a professional.

– Starting from scratch again spending time, learning the abc.

– Getting an assessment that the level of hard work required is actually much more that you expected.

– Hidden costs, so in place of earning, you may end up investing?

Try this before you jump:

Boldness to accept a challenging day at the workplace. The feeling of getting experience ad strength. We have this misconception that studies are boring. We feel that only cooking, music, dance, and playing some sort of instrument can be a hobby. An expert in the constitution of India may also be a hobby. You need to revisit your thought process. Once you make it your profession, it will have its own issues. You need to be customized as per the customer’s requirements. So maybe you don’t enjoy playing the guitar in that case. Maybe you feel that sitting and working in the office was better.

Talk to the people of that profession. If possible take a course to understand the level of hard work and core strength. Once you feel that you actually like it and can spend the rest of your life with it, Go for it. Stay happy and stay blessed. Think before you decide.  Give time to your passion during the work life. You can keep both of them.
