Income Tax Department Launches E-Campaign
To Ensure Tax Compliance for Financial Transactions The Income Tax Department has initiated an e-campaign aimed at ensuring tax compliance for specific financial transactions undertaken by individuals and entities during the Financial Year (F.Y.) 2023-24.
Identification of Non-Compliant Cases
Following an analysis of taxes paid during the current financial year, the Department has identified cases where tax payments for F.Y. 2023-24 (A.Y. 2024-25) do not align with the financial transactions reported by the concerned individuals/entities.
Notification Process
As part of its taxpayer service initiative, the Department is conducting this e-campaign to notify the individuals/entities of these significant financial transactions. Notifications are being sent via email (labeled as Advance Tax e-Campaign-Significant Transactions for A.Y. 2024-25) and SMS, urging recipients to accurately calculate their advance tax liability and remit the due advance tax on or before March 15, 2024.
Information Gathering
The Income Tax Department gathers information on specified financial transactions of taxpayers from various sources.
Promoting Transparency and Compliance
To enhance transparency and encourage voluntary tax compliance, this information is included in the Annual Information Statement (AIS) module, which individuals/entities can access for viewing.
