Waiver of Late Fee Withdrawn by Chennai Customs

Sub: Withdrawal of Public Notice No. 11/2020 dated 20.02.2020 & Public Notice No. 22/2020 dated 25.03.2020 issued for Waiver of Late Fee Charges during the outbreak of COVID-19.
The attention of the Importers, Exporters, Customs Brokers, and all other stakeholders is invited to the Public Notice No. 11/2020 dated 20.02.2020 & Public Notice No. 22/2020 dated 25.03.2020 of Chennai Customs wherein “late fee” imposable in terms of ‘Bill of Entry (Forms) Amendment Regulations, 2017 vide Notification No. 27/2017-Customs(N.T.) dated 31.03.2017 was ‘waived off’ as a facilitation measure during the outbreak of Covid-19.
2. In this regard, consequent to relaxations issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Public Notice No. 11/2020 dated 20.02.2020 & Public Notice No. 22/2020 dated 25.03.2020 issued on the above subject by undersigned are hereby withdrawn w.e.f. 21.05.2020.
3. However, waiver of late fee charges in respect of Bill of Entry, filed belatedly, which pertains to IGMs filed on or after 21st May 2020 shall be dealt with, as per the Notification No. 36/2018-Customs (N.T.) dated 11th May 2018 by the competent authority on case to case basis.
4. In this regard Importers, Customs Brokers, and all other stakeholders are advised to forward their request for a late fee waiver to AC/DCs of concerned Groups through e-mail mentioned in Public Notice No. 23/2020 dated 30.03.2020 & Public Notice No. 28/2020 dated 22.04.2020 in the below-given format along with supporting documents:
